Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has outscored his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the points lead from Piastri by one point after winning in Mexico City a fortnight back, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Until that point, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before the sprint shootout scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, sitting 36 points Norris, finished in P17 as his team opted for a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, if briefly, when he lost control at corner four soon after starting.
Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before rotating through the run-off area, and was lucky to get away with just a minor contact of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the practice, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho turn leading to the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton ended the session in P19, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
